Welcome to Murrupurtiyanuwu Catholic Primary School

MCPS is a Catholic Community School located in Wurrumiyanga, Bathurst Island in Northern Territory

We have strong links with the community with our Catholic Aboriginal Leadership team assisting to make all decisions for the school to ensure community voice is heard.

We have a strong community presence with all classrooms supported by local staff.

We offer a quality individualised education centred on social emotional learning and faith.

We believe that strong partnerships with our families, community and community organisations are vital to the success of our students.

Students participate regularly in cultural activities to ensure strong connections to community and so they know their place and can walk with confidence in the world.

Materials for Learning

Many educational materials in local languages are often out of date. We work with school leaders and publishers to ensure that students have access to current textbooks that are age appropriate and written in their primary language.

Continuing Education for Teachers

We create bespoke continuing education programs to address the needs of teachers and their student communities. From training on the latest technology to new pedagogical methods, we help teachers make their classrooms engaging and successful.

Support for Communities

Education happens within the context of a larger community. Our approach extends beyond the school to help ensure students have the necessary support to do their best learning.
